Diego Hypolito secures another gold medal for Brazil and Flamengo

By - in

Diego Hypólito has just won another gold medal on the floor exercise to add to his extensive record at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup. However, the medal he won this Sunday (April 11th) in Paris, France, had a special flavor for the red-and-black team.

\

Interestingly, the gymnast had never before won first place in his debut in this competition. With a score of 15,775, the two-time world champion broke the record and climbed to the top of the podium. Greece's Eleftherios Kosmidis took silver (15,325) and France's Gael da Silva took bronze (15,125).

"I literally surpassed myself due to the sprained left foot that was quite bothersome. I was very pleased with my performance, as I managed to complete my official series, which has a starting score of 16,70," the athlete stated.

A finalist in the diving event, Diego finished fifth with 14,913 points. Spaniard Isaac Botella finished first with 15,625 points.

\

"Despite the mistake, I performed the new jump I'd been practicing in Brazil (with an extra 180-degree pirouette). It was important to test it now to be well prepared for the World Championships in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in October," he added.
