Flamengo gymnasts reached two finals at the Rotterdam World Championships and made a difference in the Brazilian team
By Media Relations - inAfter the excellent performances of gymnasts Daniele Hypolito and Jade Barbosa at the World Championships in Rotterdam, Holland, which began on Saturday (16.10), the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team secured participation in the 2011 Pre-Olympics by finishing in 10th place, with 217.130.
\Daniele, the eternal "Little Remarkable" of the Olympic sport, was the best Brazilian in the qualifying round, scoring 55.132 points in the four apparatus competitions (floor, balance beam, vault, and parallel bars). The red-and-black athlete finished 18th, two positions ahead of Jade Barbosa, who finished 20th in the individual all-around with 54.766. With this result, Jade, who had the third-best score on vault (14.900), is in Saturday's final.
\After a year without competing in the World Cup, Daniele was delighted with her classification in the final.
\"This is a very special moment in my career. I'm back competing well and I was able to turn things around after a year of many difficulties. It was important for us to be among the top 24 teams at the World Championships and close to the best teams in the world. Next year, we will work even harder to secure a spot at the 2012 Olympics. Gymnastics is made up of many details, and that's why we'll have to work even harder to qualify for the London Games," he concluded.
