With four red-blacks, the team goes in search of an Olympic spot
Test event on Sunday will be the national team's last chance to qualify

Next Sunday (17), the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team will have the last chance to field the full team at the Rio-2016 Olympic Games, during the test event, which will be held in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The team of seven athletes, which will include four red-black athletes, has been preparing since the end of the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in October. Sunday's competition will be open to the public.
In this last competition, the Brazilians came very close to qualifying, finishing ninth, just behind the Dutch, who finished eighth. After that, the team remained undeterred and continued training hard, in two shifts, focusing on nutrition and injury prevention, to ensure they were in good shape for the test event, which would be crucial for Brazil.
In the competition, the team will feature Flamengo players Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Milena Theodoro, and Rebeca Andrade. Flavinha, who recently arrived in Gávea, says everyone's dedication has been immense. "I'm training hard to help the team qualify for the Olympic Games. All the girls are working hard for this competition, and I hope they all do their best. I believe everything will go well. Competing at home will be great," she said.
Competition
Eight teams will participate, and four of them will qualify. In addition to Brazil, the women's test event will feature Germany, Australia, Belgium, South Korea, France, Romania, and Switzerland. The Brazilians will compete in the second subdivision, starting at 13 p.m. The men's and women's apparatus finals will be held on Monday (18).
If the country does not qualify, it has the right to field a gymnast in the Olympic Games.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have support from the Brazilian Club Confederation (CBC) from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law and with resources from its sponsor – MRS Logística – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sport (IR).
