With red and black, the Brazilian team debuts at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships

Once again, the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Team is predominantly made up of red-and-black athletes. In the group that competes in the World Championship of the sport starting this Sunday (28), four of the six gymnasts defend the colors of the Most Beloved. Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira and Rebeca Andrade embarked this Tuesday (23) for Doha, Qatar, where they will represent Brazil in the most important competition of the year.

The event is the first step towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. With the final finals scheduled for November 3, the championship begins this Thursday (25) with the men's team competitions. The women's competition begins next Saturday (27), but Brazil will only enter action at the Aspire Academy Dome, the largest multipurpose indoor gymnasium in the world, starting on Sunday (28).

A veteran member of the Brazilian national team, Jade Barbosa is seeking her third podium finish at the World Championships. The red-and-black athlete has already won two bronze medals in the competition: in Stuttgart in 2007, in the individual all-around, and in Rotterdam in 2010, in the vault.
