Khiuani Dias and Ana Claudia Silva have their first training session this Friday, in Gávea

Flamengo's women's artistic gymnastics team gained two new reinforcements at the beginning of the 2010 season. Khiuani Dias and Ana Claudia Silva, both 17 years old and members of the Brazilian national team, are now part of the red-black women's team, which already includes Daniele Hypolito, Jade Barbosa and Letícia Costa.

This Friday, the 22nd, the new signings will have their first training session under the technical command of Ricardo Pereira and Viviane Cardoso, at 14:30 pm, in the club's gym.

"These are two new additions to our existing team. Flamengo has a strong tradition in gymnastics, and we want to compete for results in the 2012 and 2016 Games. We've formed a strong team that has everything it takes to shine in national and international championships," said club president Patricia Amorim.

In the final of the South American Championships, held in the city of Sogamoso, Colombia, the two gymnasts helped take Brazil to the top of the podium, with the silver medal for Ana Claudia and the bronze medal for Khiuani, who debuted for the Brazilian team during the Rio-2007 Pan American Games.

The then-rookie achieved success in her debut and brought luck to the host country. Brazil finished second in the team competition, and Khiuani qualified for the final of the overall competition, where she placed ninth.

In 2009, Khiuani beat her national team partner Daniele Hypolito at the Brazil Trophy and won the title in the Individual All-Around.
