After a long time without competing together outside of the country, gymnasts Daniele and Diego Hypolito were the highlights this Friday of the World Cup qualifiers, which are being held in the city of São João da Madeira, Porto, Portugal. Together, the brothers secured a spot in the finals of six apparatuses. The only Brazilian representative in the competition, Daniele Hypolito shone on all four apparatuses, securing a place among the top eight gymnasts: first place on vault (14,072 points), second on floor (13,450 points), fourth on parallel bars (12,950 points) and fifth on balance beam (13,000 points).

"I was very happy with what happened to me in the qualifiers. I've been very dedicated to training and I hope to continue this work, striving for good results for Brazil. This Saturday, I'll compete in two finals (vault and parallel bar), and if I win a medal on one of these apparatuses, I'll dedicate it to my brother Diego, who will be celebrating his birthday. On Sunday, I'll compete in the floor and balance beam finals," commented Daniele.

Undefeated on the floor exercise in 2010 (he won both events in Paris and Moscow), Diego Hypolito secured a spot in the final of his specialty apparatus, finishing first with 15,675 points. The two-time world champion, who turns 24 this Saturday, will be aiming for another triumph today. On the vault, the Brazilian gymnast finished third with 15,600 points. The final for this apparatus will take place on Sunday.

"I'm very focused and focused on achieving another good result in this World Cup stage. Coincidentally, I'll be competing in the floor final on my birthday. It would be great to be able to leave Portugal with a medal as a gift. I couldn't help but mention Daniele's excellent performance in the qualifiers.
