After the setback he suffered in August, when he was surprised by a fall during his final floor exercise performance at the Beijing Olympic Games, Diego Hypólito is ready to shine again.

The gymnast left this Monday for Glasgow (Scotland), where he will compete in the 5th Stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, between October 16th and 18th. Diego traveled in the company of coach Renato Araújo and two other gymnasts.

Already qualified for the Grand Final in Spain in December, Diego will attempt to retain his title on floor exercise, where he leads the rankings. The red-and-black athlete will aim to improve his performance on vault, where he currently ranks ninth. Only the top eight finishers in the events held throughout the year will compete in the Final in December.

The last World Cup stage was held in Moscow, Russia, in May of this year. Brazil brought home two medals, won by gymnasts Diego Hypolito and Jade Barbosa. Diego won silver, finishing second only to Russia's Anton Golotsutskov. Jade Barbosa took gold on vault, tying with Russia's Anna Pavlova.

After the Glasgow competitions, the Brazilians' next challenge will be the Stuttgart stage in Germany, between November 14th and 16th.
