NLast Saturday (30), the Cláudio Coutinho gymnasium, in Gávea, hosted another edition of the FLA Cup, the closing competition of artistic gymnastics at the Sempre Flamengo Sports School. The event brought together around 500 athletes from 14 entities in Rio de Janeiro that practice the sport. Flavia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira and Rebeca Andrade, red-and-black gymnasts who are part of the Brazilian National Team, also attended the tournament and exchanged experiences with the younger ones.

"The event takes place every year and aims to encourage and promote the sport and provide an opportunity for other institutions to experience a gymnastics gym. During the day, we had a floor exercise and two vault exercises, where all the athletes performed. A panel of judges evaluated their performance and awarded scores based on each athlete's performance," said Patrícia Fernandes, a teacher at the Sempre Flamengo Sports School.

The FLA Cup is supported by the Rio de Janeiro Gymnastics Federation and has become part of the annual calendar for the state's gymnastics schools. The tournament is a great gathering for parents, athletes, and coaches.

The competition had no individual awards. All athletes received medals and gifts from Flamengo.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
