Gymnast Diego Hypolito arrived in Rio de Janeiro this Thursday morning, a week after undergoing surgery on his left ankle in Switzerland. The two-time world floor exercise champion will begin intensive physical therapy next week. He is expected to return to training in three months.

"I'm sorry to land in Brazil knowing that I won't be able to participate in this year's World Championships, which begin next week. But now it's time to lift my head and begin my physical therapy activities. I want to prepare myself well for 2011 and get back to doing what I love most, which is competing. The Olympic project is more alive than ever," said Diego, who was greeted by the affection of his parents Geni and Wagner, as well as relatives, gymnasts, and friends upon arrival.
