Good-natured and articulate, gymnast Diego Hypólito returned to training at the Cláudio Coutinho gym, at the Gávea headquarters, this Thursday, after giving a press conference and dodging harassment from fans.
On that occasion, Diego took the opportunity to talk about his vacation and plans for 2009. "I did a little bit of everything during my vacation, surfing, skateboarding, and going to Búzios. I didn't catch up on the news; I took the opportunity to rest."
Responding to questions about budget cuts to Olympic sports, the gymnast assured: "I will continue training at the Cláudio Coutinho gymnasium at Flamengo. I'm a Flamengo fan at heart and have been with the club for 13 years. The club has always supported me, as has the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation, with which I maintain a good relationship. This is a time of crisis, and I'm sure it will be overcome."
On this subject, Flamengo will have to adapt to the new budget that will be redone due to the global crisis.
Also at the press conference, Diego was joined by his coach, Renato Araújo, who spoke about the formation of the new coaching staff for the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team. "I think it's time to recognize Brazilian coaches. We have excellent coaches to lead the men's and women's teams."
