At 27, Jade Barbosa is the most experienced athlete on the young Flamengo artistic gymnastics team. Having participated in the Olympics and several international competitions, the Rio native continues to win medals wherever she goes. The Brazilian Specialist Championship, held in Santos on August 15th and 16th, was no exception. Jade won gold medals on the uneven parallel bars and in the individual all-around, as well as being instrumental in the team victory. She also took silver on the balance beam and in the individual all-around. 

In conversation with the Official Website, the red-black team analyzed the team's performance in the championship. 

"I think the entire team's performance was very positive. Not just mine, but I think Flamengo was very consistent throughout the two days of competition, which is very good," commented Jade.

About to compete in the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Jade is also thinking about the World Championships in October. 

"Most of our girls have the potential to be on the Brazilian National Team or already are. The Brazilian Championships were a stepping stone to the World Championships, giving us more confidence. Some girls performed new routines, and I'm happy we showcased quality gymnastics. The important thing is to demonstrate quality in our work, and I think we did that very well," said the red-and-black athlete. 

With Jade on the roster, the national team is preparing for the Pan American Games, which will be held in Lima, Peru, from September 11 to 16. The World Cup will take place from October 25 to November 3 in Doha, Qatar.
