The 2013 Brazilian Olympic Gymnastics Championships were held last Saturday (03.08), in Vitória, Espírito Santo. In the adult team competition, Flamengo shared the title with Cegin, from Paraná. In the youth individual all-around, Flamengo's Rebeca Andrade won the gold medal for the second time in this competition.

"I'm very happy to be able to stand out more and more. The training rhythm is paying off. The vault was my best event and I already expected to be champion, but I didn't imagine winning the individual all-around, because my floor exercise wasn't very good. The important thing is that I did it," said the junior champion gymnast.

The youth athletes (ages 13 to 15) competed against the adults (ages 15 and over), but each category had its own individual all-around champion. In terms of points total, Rebeca Andrade, just 14, surpassed even the gold medalist in the adult category.

As Rebeca Andrade herself said, the vault was her best event. No athlete in the competition, including the adults, scored more points than her on this apparatus. Another Flamengo player who stood out was Letícia Costa. The gymnast took silver in the adult individual all-around.
