Last weekend, in Aracaju, Sergipe, Flamengo's women's team was crowned Brazilian champion with 4.80 points ahead of CEGIN, the second-place team in the Brazilian Youth Artistic Gymnastics Championship. Together, Rebeca Andrade, Thauany Araújo, Lorenna Antunes, Julie Sinmon, and Gabryella Nunes totaled 157.100 points. The performance of the "Mais Querido," which also won seven other medals, earned praise from the sport's coordinator, Ana Paula Luck.

"CEGIN has a very good functional structure. For us, beating them by almost five points means a lot. The girls were very happy. Winning titles is good and always very important," he commented, before mentioning the team's human quality. "Of the 12 athletes on the Brazilian Youth Team, five are from Flamengo," he concluded.

The individual highlight was Rebeca Andrade, whose performance earned her four other medals. She finished first on vault, parallel bars, and balance beam (a device she shared with Flávia Saraiva of Qualivida), and took silver on floor exercise. With these results, she was the champion in the individual all-around.

"Rebeca has potential, she's a talent; she's won almost everything. She'll be trained to do even better than she is currently at the 2016 Olympics," praised Ana Paula. Gabryella Nunes took silver on the parallel bars, and Thauany on the vault. In the men's competition, Pedro Barbosa was the only representative for the Red-Black team.
