Red and black teams compete in the Rio de Janeiro Artistic Gymnastics Championship
In the last edition, Mais Querido won 24 medals and was highlighted in all categories
By Romulo Paranhos - inThe red-and-black artistic gymnastics team has another important challenge ahead in the search for medals for the Most Beloved. Next Sunday (21), Arena Carioca 3, in the Barra Olympic Park, will host another edition of the Carioca Championship of the sport, which will feature athletes of all categories, from Pre-Mirim to Adult. The event will start at 8 am and admission is free.
In the Adult category, the red-and-black gymnasts confirmed for the competition are: Isabelle Retamiro, Maria Júlia Marques, Beatriz Simão, and Milenny Esteves. It's worth noting that Flávia Saraiva, Rebeca Andrade, Jade Barbosa, and Lorrane Dos Santos are on duty with the Brazilian National Team, concentrated at the Time Brasil Training Center in preparation for the World Championships, which will take place between October 25th and November 3rd in Doha, Qatar.
Ângelo Sabino, coach of the red-black teams, commented on the importance of the State Championship, especially for gymnasts who are just starting out in the sport.
"The Campeonato Carioca is a very important competition, especially for the youth divisions. In the Mirim category, for example, it's the biggest tournament of the year and often the first major challenge in these girls' lives. For the more advanced categories, it serves as good preparation for national and international championships," the coach revealed, adding his expectations for the competition.
“Flamengo is the biggest power in the state in women's artistic gymnastics, and so we hope to win many medals to further increase the red-and-black hegemony,” concluded Ângelo.
In the last edition of the State Championship, Flamengo finished the competition winning 24 medals, standing out in all categories and winning the Adult team championship.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
