The first edition of the South American Youth Games, in Lima, Peru, for athletes aged 14 to 17, began this Friday (20.09) and will continue until the 29th. In the women's artistic gymnastics delegation, made up of four girls, there are three red-blacks: Rebeca Andrade, Thauany Araújo and Lorenna Antunes. In addition to them, Keli Kitaura, Flamengo's coach, also traveled as coach of the Brazilian National Team.

Ana Paula Luck, artistic gymnastics coordinator at Mais Querido, highlighted the good chances of Rebeca Andrade and Brazil doing well in the competition. "Rebeca is always a hopeful individual result. Even internationally, she has good potential. The Brazilian team has a great chance of winning the competition, because in South America, we have a tradition in this sport that surpasses that of other countries," she said.

The coordinator also offered praise for the other gymnasts. "Thauany has what it takes to win a medal. On the vault, for example, she's doing well. Lorenna does well on all four apparatuses and does a beautiful job. She helped Flamengo become Brazilian champions in the Adult category, and she's growing and improving," she concluded.

The red-blacks have been in the Peruvian capital since last Tuesday (17.09). The artistic gymnastics events will be held from September 23 to 26.
