Flamengo places two athletes in the Youth Artistic Gymnastics Team
Maria Heloisa and Helen travel to the Pan American Games in Mexico this Sunday
By Roberta Pinto - inFollowing the motto "Ace, Flamengo does it at home," the club's women's artistic gymnastics team placed two athletes on the Brazilian Youth National Team. Maria Heloísa Moreno and Helen Benevides, both 13, passed the national selection process held in May.
The two travel this Sunday (13.06) to Mexico where they will compete in the Pan-American Games.
"It's undoubtedly a great joy to see these two girls called up. The club hasn't been able to field players in the youth team for many years. This shows that we're doing a very important job of revitalizing the squad for when the senior team stops competing," said technical coordinator Georgette Vidor.
"We're very happy with this call-up. They're in their first year in the category and are already making their debut in such an important competition. They'll represent the country and Flamengo with great determination," said coach Angelo Sabino.
