Flamengo's gymnastics team took center stage at the EC Pinheiros gymnasium in São Paulo last week. Held last Sunday (6), the finals of the team and all-around competitions of the Caixa Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championship were very exciting, in addition to featuring the best gymnasts in the country.

The "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) team competed in the men's and women's youth categories, as well as the women's adult category. Featuring prominent names in the sport, such as Rebeca Andrade and Jade Barbosa, the "Rubro-Negro" team finished third in the team competition with 149,450 points.

The red-and-black team included athletes Isabelle Cruz, Letícia Costa, Milleny Souza, Rebeca Andrade, Jade Barbosa, and Luiza Kirchmayer. Letícia placed highest among the Mengão gymnasts, finishing fourth in the all-around with a total of 51.250 points.

In addition, the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) will also release the results of the qualifiers for the World Championships in Montreal, Canada, which will be held in October.

Also serving as a qualifier for the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, the Brazilian Championships also honored another red-and-black athlete. In the Youth category, gymnast Maria Julia was among the five chosen to represent Brazil in the international tournament.

Flamengo also competed in the Children's category, which awarded the winners in teams, individual all-around and apparatus.

In the team competition, the women's team finished fifth with gymnasts Carey Pinheiro, Ana Letícia Andrade, Maria Manuela Anunci, Marcela Meireles, Cristiane Gomes, and Jéssica Oliveira. In the men's competition, Kayki Siqueira, Bernardo Barreto, Matheus Luiz Fernandes, Rafael Neves, and Cauã Siqueira finished eighth.

Winning bronze for Mais Querido in the asymmetrical, Carey Pinheiro scored 21,650 points last Saturday (5) and also climbed onto the podium in São Paulo.
