Flamengo dominated the podium at the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Trophy this Saturday (04.06) in Brasília. In total, the club won four medals in the individual all-around. There were two gold medals, won by Sérgio Sasaki and Daniele Hypolito, one silver medal and one bronze medal.

In the morning, in the women's competition, Daniele Hypolito was the best placed, with 55.600 points, and Gabriela Soares, the third best, with 52.150. In second place was Adrian Gomes, from Grêmio Náutico União, with 52.550.

"Starting to compete on the balance beam always creates a certain nervousness, as it's a very difficult apparatus, but I did well on all fours and I'm very happy with the result. Our team is doing very well. We have the younger girls, who are helping a lot and who are strong names for the 2016 Olympics," said Daniele Hypolito, about Lorrane Santos, who placed sixth, and Isabelle Cruz, who placed seventh.

In the afternoon, in the men's competition, Flamengo's gymnasts put on another show. Sergio Sasaki took gold with 88.550 points, and Diego Hypolito took silver with 86.400, confirming his best performance since injuring his left ankle. Pinheiros' Péricles Fouro came in third with 85.150. Flamengo's Pétrix Barbosa finished fourth with 84.400 points.

"The result was excellent, especially Sasaki's score, as he is a World Championship finalist. We are very happy with the entire team," said the men's team coach, Renato Araújo.
