Flamengo's women's artistic gymnastics team won the Brazilian Championship title, held at the Constâncio Vieira gymnasium in Aracaju.
The team, composed of girls Júlia Veselich, Isabel Aguilar Ramos, Maria Eduarda Montesino, Maria Luísa Barros, Larissa de Oliveira, and Gabriela Vieira Bouças, put on a sweet show and won the title, just as it had done in the adult category. Flamengo won handily, totaling 375.925 points. Second place went to Grêmio Náutico União with 349.300 points, followed by CEGIN-PR with 344.525.
The red-black team once again stood out, winning the first two places in the Individual General category in the 11-year-old Subdivision, with Isabel Aguilar Ramos and the Individual General title in the 12-year-old Subdivision, with Gabriela Bouças Vieira.
Flamengo coach Daniela Antunes highlighted the unity of the Gávea club's coaches. "We're very happy with the results. During this period of resumption of in-person activities, we've managed to keep the kids in the gym. This competition is the culmination of a very close-knit group of coaches," said the coach, who has highlighted the gymnasts' enthusiasm following Rebeca Andrade's achievements at the Tokyo Olympics. According to Antunes, the girls' performance in the activities has improved.
It is worth remembering that, last month, in São Bernardo (SP), Flamengo won the pre-child and youth categories of the Brazilian Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championship.
Among the boys, Flamengo finished fourth in the children's team. Rafael Araújo stood out for taking bronze in the all-around for 12-year-olds and also took home three gold medals on the apparatus: floor, rings, and parallel bars. Luiz Gabriel Cardoso also won gold on vault.
This Sunday (3), the competition continues with the presentations of the adult male and female teams who will compete for medals for apparatus.
