Flamengo showed today (29.07), at the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championship, held in Guarulhos, São Paulo, that it has the best female team in the country. The red-black team, which had Jade Barbosa, Daniele Hypolito, Gabriela Soares, Lorrane dos Santos, Isabelle Cristina and Letícia Costa, climbed to the highest place on the podium with 168.200, followed by CGIN (159.100) and Grêmio União (153.350). Jade and Daniele were also the best gymnasts of the day, making a red-black double.
The team's coach, Ricardo Pereira, couldn't hide his emotion right after the end of the competition, even before the official results.
"The result was very good, excellent, much better than expected. Flamengo proved that they have the best women's team in Brazil. There were very few mistakes. The girls were focused and very committed. I'm speechless," she celebrated.
Still recovering from the right wrist injury and kidney stone that kept her out of the Natal Meeting in June, Jade showed why she's considered the "Gávea Diamond." With nearly flawless performances, the athlete wowed the crowd in the gymnasium after completing each of the four apparatuses in the women's gymnastics competition. It's no coincidence that she was the top gymnast of the day with 57.500 points and qualified for all finals.
Daniele Hypolito also performed well. Despite only returning to training a week ago, she finished top on the balance beam (14.950) and had the second-best performance of the day, with 55.550 points, also qualifying for the final on all apparatuses. At 26, this remarkable little girl showed she still has many years of gymnastics ahead of her.
In addition to Jade and Daniele, the red-blacks Lorrane dos Santos (30.07), Gabriela Soares (8) and Isabelle Cristina (54.100) will be competing in the individual all-around tomorrow (53.500), starting at 52.100 am.
