Flamengo got off to a good start in the Brazilian Gymnastics Trophy, which is being held at the Sogipa gymnasium in Porto Alegre.

Olympic champion Rebeca Andrade placed first on the uneven bars in the qualifying rounds. On Thursday, she achieved a score of 14,667 and advanced to the final, which will be held on Saturday (schedule below).

She's back in action this Friday in the balance beam qualifiers.

Jade Barbosa also achieved classification in the same event, in second place, with a score of 12,933.

Little Hellen Vitória reached her first final in the competition by finishing third in the jumping event, scoring 12.483.

Making his debut with the Sacred Mantle, Diogo Soares did not disappoint. On the very first day, he secured a spot in the finals in two events: third place on pommel horse and fifth on floor exercise.

"In this competition, Diogo is using a new series on all four apparatus. We're testing the new elements and aiming for good results," explained Daniel Biscalchin, the athlete's coach.

This Friday, the red-black team is looking for more finals in the balance beam and floor events for women and vault, parallel bars and fixed bar for men.
The finals will be played over the weekend.
