On the first day of the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia, there was a Baile de Favela (Favela Ball), a performance by Flavia Saraiva, and beautiful performances by Flamengo. In the team competition, the "Mais Querido" (Flamengo) is in first place in the adult women's competition. In the individual all-around, Rebeca Andrade leads the competition. The finals take place this Saturday, starting at 18:30 p.m.

For 2022, the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) has changed the competition format. The champion of each apparatus, individual all-around, and team event will be determined by the sum of the results from both days of competition.

The women's team, made up of Rebeca Andrade, Flávia Saraiva, Lorrane Oliveira, Hellen Vitória, Luisa Maia, and Larissa Oliveira, performed excellently across all apparatuses, scoring 163.533 points. Flamengo leads the competition.  

Having returned to performing on the floor, Rebeca also returned to the all-around title race and is in the hunt for another national title. She scored 56,734 points, followed by fellow Flamengo fan Flavia Saraiva (54,900). Flavinha delivered a stunning performance on the floor and had the highest score of the day (13.900). On the uneven bars, she scored 13.667 and on the balance beam, she scored 13.400.

Rebeca stole the show with her floor exercise. After 10 months, it was the first time the gymnast performed the routine that made her a Tokyo Olympic champion, sending the local crowd into a frenzy. She also placed first on the uneven bars (14.600) and second on the balance beam (13.867). On vault, an event in which she is an Olympic and world champion, Rebeca confirmed her favoritism, earning the highest score of the day (14,467). However, she wasn't in the medal race on this apparatus, which requires two distinct vaults.

In the men's event, promising young Diogo Soares is second in the all-around, behind only Caio Souza. The red-and-black athlete scored 83.350 on all apparatus. On vault, he nailed a double pirouette and achieved a 14.600. On parallel bars, he finished second with 14.050. On pommel horse (13.500) and horizontal bar (14.256), he finished third in both.
