On the afternoon of this Saturday (9), Flamengo hosted, at its headquarters in Gávea, an artistic gymnastics event promoted by the Rio de Janeiro Gymnastics Federation (FGERJ). Among those present, Rebeca Andrade, Jade Barbosa and Flávia Saraiva, Olympic finalists and athletes of Mais Querido, represented the red-black sport.
During the event, the federation's president, Bruno Chateaubriand, paid tribute to Luisa Parente, Flamengo's land sports manager, Arthur Nory, Diego Hypolito, Carol Sampaio and the Rio 2016 medalists. In addition to them, Suzana Pires and Glenda Kozlowski, godmothers of FGERJ, were presented with shirts from the new collection.
The afternoon also saw the presentation of the Federation's new tights, designed by Carol Hungria, the same designer who will design Dani Hypolito's wedding dress.
Bruno Chateaubriand, president of the Rio de Janeiro Gymnastics Federation, commented on the importance of the event, in addition to celebrating the union of all sports modalities.
"It's a very important day. We're bringing together all the sports represented by FGERJ—women's and men's artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and aerobics. All of Rio's sports, Olympic and otherwise, are participating in a grand celebration. We're welcoming state, municipal, and government officials who will connect with the athletes. The main goal is to bring businesspeople together to touch their hearts and enable them to support the gymnasts," said Chateaubriand.
"This event is really cool because it brings visibility to Flamengo and the Federation, in short, to gymnastics as a whole. I think the coolest thing of all is doing this without any pressure of competition and bringing joy to people," commented Flávia Saraiva, a finalist at Rio 2016.
