Flamengo has gymnasts and a coach in the Pan American Games team
Julie Kim Sinmon and Letícia Costa travel to Toronto this Friday; red-black coach Keli Kitaura is also part of the delegation

The Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Team is one of the biggest medal hopes at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, and the delegation includes three Flamengo players. Of the six athletes on the women's team, two represent Flamengo: Julie Kim Sinmon and Letícia Costa. Flamengo coach Keli Kitaura is a member of the coaching staff.
Last Friday (June 26.06), Rebeca Andrade suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will not be able to be part of the delegation. According to the coordinator of the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team, Georgette Vidor, Rebeca's injury was felt by the team immediately, but the athletes quickly came together to overcome the loss and continue pursuing their goals. "We're going to Toronto with a very strong team. They are the best gymnasts in Brazil. We've been training intensely daily to be prepared. Anyone who was left out at this time would be missed, especially Rebeca, who has been performing so well, but I'm really enjoying the girls' performance," she said.
Keli Kitaura also commented on Rebeca's injury, which she said is expected to last a long time. "We now have to focus on her recovery and overcoming it. The athlete is determined and willing to face the challenges that lie ahead. We're all in this together and we'll work towards this," she stated.
The goal for Toronto-2015 is to surpass the previous result, of two bronze medals on the floor and beam, and to use the Pan American Games as part of the preparation for the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in October, a qualifying competition for the Rio-2016 Olympic Games.
