Flamengo will have six athletes in the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Trophy
Rubro-negra Rebeca Andrade, just 14 years old, is the main favorite to be champion in the individual all-around
By Communication - Official Club Website - inThe Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Trophy is contested by athletes in the Adult category, but in the women's category, a young woman, just 14 years old, is the clear favorite. Her name is Rebeca Andrade, a Flamengo athlete who was still a junior and won the individual all-around championship in 2012. Besides her, Milena Theodoro, Thauany Lee, Lorenna Antunes, Letícia Costa, and Juddy Mila will represent the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved).
The competition takes place this weekend (May 25.05th and 26.05th) in the city of Toledo, Curitiba. Of the six Flamengo athletes, only Letícia Costa is already an adult. The other five are 15 years old or younger. Flamengo's coaches are Keli Kitaura and Ricardo Pereira, coaches of the Brazilian National Team. Ricardo, in fact, competed in the 2012 London Olympics.
"Our girls make a good team. Despite being very young, almost all of them are already part of the Brazilian national team. Only Judy Mila and Lorenna Antunes have not yet represented Brazil," said Ana Paula Luck, Flamengo's artistic gymnastics technical coordinator.
The competition will feature four events: vault, parallel bar, balance beam, and floor. In addition to the winners of each event, there will also be a champion in the individual all-around, which will be the gymnast who scores the most points on all four apparatuses. The Troféu Brasil organizers decided not to award team awards.
