After renewing Rebeca Andrade's contract for two years, Flamengo signed four more Brazilian women's and men's artistic gymnastics stars on Monday. Flavia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira, and Diogo Soares will remain at Gávea for another season. 

 

 At the club since 2016, Flavinha celebrated the renewal and spoke about the responsibility of representing Mais Querido.

"Representing the biggest fan base in Brazil is a tremendous honor. I'm very happy to be able to stay here for another year. This is my seventh season here, and I'm very grateful. I'm continuing to make progress in my recovery from my injury and will strive for good results for the club and the Brazilian national team," said the 23-year-old athlete. 

At the club for 26 years, Jade Barbosa is immersed in the history and evolution of the red-black artistic gymnastics.

"I've been at Flamengo since 1997 and have experienced everything here at the club. Good times, bad times, and all kinds of emotions. I'm watching the girls who were just kids grow up, and many are now part of the adult team. Witnessing this development is a privilege. Flamengo is a development club and has always been by my side," the gymnast thanked.

At the club for a season, the young men's gymnastics talent, Diogo Soares, celebrates his renewal and talks about the season's goals.

"The first season was about adapting to our new home. I can only thank Flamengo for all their support this year and I'll repay them by training and always giving my best in competitions. 2023 is a year with the Brazilian, South American, and Pan American Championships, and I'm going after medals for Mengão," he assured. 

Vice President of Olympic Sports, Guilherme Kroll, commented on the renewals.

"Flamengo's artistic gymnastics is intertwined with artistic gymnastics in Brazil. We are a major source of talent for the sport; it's in our DNA. It's a sport that has always brought benefits to the club, and I'm very happy to have all these gems at the club for another year," the director concluded.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Rede D'or, Coperalcool, Hoteis.com – via the Federal Sports Incentive Law/Special Sports Secretariat (SEESP), in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
