Rio 2016 is already unforgettable for the petite giant of the red-and-black gymnast Flavia Saraiva. The athlete competed in the balance beam final in her first Olympics and is the fifth-best in the world on the apparatus. With a score of 14.533, Flavinha came very close to winning bronze, which went to American Simone Biles (14.733).
"I was calm. It was my first Olympics and being the fifth best in the world on an apparatus is very gratifying for me. I have many Olympics ahead of me and God willing, everything will work out," said Flavia after the event.
In the team final, Brazil finished in eighth place. In the individual all-around, Rebeca Andrade came in 11th.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have support from the Brazilian Club Confederation (CBC) from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law and with resources from its sponsor – MRS Logística – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sport (IR).
