Flavia Saraiva achieved a great result for Brazil this Thursday (01) at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. In Doha, Qatar, the red-and-black athlete finished eighth in the individual all-around final of the competition, establishing herself among the ten best gymnasts in the world today. Jade Barbosa finished in 15th place.

With strong performances on the floor and vault, Flavinha achieved a total score of 54,366. The red-and-black gymnast began the competition on the uneven bars, scoring 13,000 points, the same score she achieved on the balance beam. Soon after, the Brazilian shone on the floor (13,833) and vault (14,533), wowing the crowd. Jade Barbosa also achieved her best score on the vault, achieving 14,500. With a total score of 52,866, the gymnast scored 12,933 on the balance beam; 12,100 on the floor; and 13,333 on the uneven bars. 

Flavia's finish was Brazil's best since the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, when Jade Barbosa won the bronze medal. The red-and-black team celebrated the victory.

 

"I'm very happy. The work I've been able to do this year has been very productive. I had a small problem on the beam when I fell. Perhaps I could have done a little better, but I leave this competition very proud and hope to improve further in the coming years," commented Flavinha. 

The Mais Querido gymnast returns to compete this Saturday (03), at noon, in the floor final. Flavia was the only Brazilian to qualify on an apparatus. Sportv 2 will broadcast the last day of competitions live.
