Flamengo artistic gymnast Flavia Saraiva is preparing for her first international competition of 2018. This weekend, she will compete in the Troffeo Città de Jesolo in Italy, alongside fellow Flamengo member Jade Barbosa. The athletes renewed their contracts with the club in early March, as did Lorrane Oliveira and Rebeca Andrade.

The Flamengo gymnasts, who were part of the Brazilian national team at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, benefit from the Guardian Angel program. The innovative project was created by the club to support the growth of Olympic sports. Today, more than 650 athletes across eight sports benefit from the Angel program.

In conversation with Fla TV, Flavinha commented on the importance of being able to count on the club's structure for another year and projected the 2018 season.

"I'm very happy to renew my contract with Flamengo because it's great to have such a large fan base always supporting us," said the gymnast.
