Georgette Vidor is back at Flamengo. Almost twenty years after her last stint at the club, she returns as Technical Coordinator of Artistic Gymnastics and officially starts next Wednesday (15), at 14 pm, with the red-black teams' return.

Georgette began her coaching career at the age of 15, arriving at Mais Querido in 1980. Her first stint was short, lasting until 1983. Two years later, she returned to Flamengo, staying until 1993. After another brief hiatus, in 1995, Georgette began working as General Supervisor of Artistic Gymnastics and Head Coach of the Women's Senior Team.

"I was a youth coach, then a girls' coach, and then when I returned, I managed the academy, both the boys' and girls' teams. So I already held the same position I hold today, but I also coached the women's first team," explained the Flamengo fan. "Everything here still reflects a lot of my life, so returning has been a long-time plan. I was with the Brazilian national team until the end of the 2016 Olympic Games, so during that time as national team coordinator, I always looked after the Flamengo girls."

With more than 40 Brazilian titles for Mais Querido and countless state victories with the youth and adult teams, Georgette Vidor spoke about the beginning of another phase at the club.

"I never left. When I left the national team, I started thinking about the possibility of returning to Flamengo. I'm a die-hard Flamengo fan, I have a history here, I started training at the Togo Kanela gym, and then that started being negotiated. My role is technical, I enjoy that part, what fascinates me is seeing the girls develop. In the women's team, our goal has always been to have Olympic athletes, and today we have Flavinha, who has already qualified, Rebeca, who may qualify, and a real chance of a medal with Flamengo itself. That was also something I always worried about," he commented.

"I'm very excited; it's what I love to do, where I love to be. We have the potential, an excellent gymnasium for training, good coaches, and great gymnasts. We need to set a higher goal than winning a Brazilian Championship. Flamengo always won because we had the best gymnasts, but that was never my goal. The goal was to have the best in the country at an international level here. In my opinion, that's Flamengo's essence. Flamengo is supposed to be the best," concluded Georgette.

The red-black athlete served as coordinator of the national team between 2009 and 2016. As coach of the Brazilian National Team, she brought the country its first medal in world championships, a silver on floor exercise with Daniele Hipólyto, in 2001; and the first gold in Pan American Games, with Luisa Parente, in 1991, at the Pan American Games in Cuba.
