Georgette Vidor: "Without Flamengo there would be no gymnastics in Brazil"
The coordinator of the Brazilian women's national team visits open training and highlights the importance of the Red-Black team for the sport in the country.

On the morning of this Thursday (25), the red-black Adult artistic gymnastics team held its second training session this year at the Cláudio Coutinho gym, at the Gávea social headquarters. Of the seven present, six train with the Brazilian National Team at the Time Brasil Training Center, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Flamengo and National Team coaches Keli Kitaura and Ricardo Pereira led the training sessions for Isabelle Cruz, Julie Kim, Letícia Costa, Milena Theodoro, Rebeca Andrade, Thauany Araújo and Jade Barbosa. The only absence in the activity was Maria Cecília Cruz, who is also part of the Brazilian National Team.

Also present were the head coach of the National Team, Alexander Alexandrov, coach Francisco Porath and the coordinator of the national women's artistic gymnastics team, Georgette Vidor, who praised the importance of Flamengo in the country's sporting scene and declared her affection and identification with the club.
"Without Flamengo, there would be no gymnastics in Brazil. The club is more than just the base of the Brazilian National Team, and there are girls who no longer train here, but were trained here. I identify with Flamengo enormously; I feel at home. So much so that I left in 2004, and to this day, people remember me as 'Luisa Parente's coach' (now Flamengo's land sports manager)," said Georgette.
Pre-Olympic
With the Rio 2016 Olympic Games just around the corner, Brazil's red-and-black athletes are eagerly anticipating securing a spot at the world's biggest sporting event. In the first competition of the year, Jade (silver on the parallel bars) and Maria Cecília (bronze on the balance beam and silver on the team) returned from Houston with medals. The team's next stop will be in Italy, with Rebeca and Jade also scheduled to attend the test event at the Rio Olympic Arena in Barra da Tijuca, from April 16th to 20th.
"I try to pass on everything I've learned to the girls, but they also teach me a lot," said Jade, who is the most experienced of the red-and-blacks and dreams of going to her second Olympics to win her first Olympic medal. Rebeca, meanwhile, is eager to make her Olympic debut, on home soil, at just 16 years old.
