Diego Hypólito's return to international competition couldn't have gone better. After undergoing arthroscopy on his right knee, the CRFlamengo gymnast secured the silver medal in the floor exercise at the Moscow leg of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, scoring 15.525 points. Anton Golotsutskov of Russia took gold (15.650).

"I was very happy to be back. I think my resilience once again spoke louder, after having gone through many difficulties with knee surgery and dengue fever. I did a good floor routine (my starting score was 16,60) and I'm very pleased with my performance," said Diego, who praised the technical level of the competition.

Jade Barbosa, also representing the red-and-black team and the current star of the Brazilian national team, secured the gold medal in vaulting, along with Russia's Anna Paviova. Both received a score of 14.750.

On the balance beam, Jade didn't fare well. After falling during her first acrobatic sequence, the Brazilian finished seventh with a score of 13.650. On the floor, where she usually shines, Jade finished eighth and last, scoring 14.030.

The Moscow leg is the last World Cup leg in which the Brazilian team will participate before the Beijing Olympics. Between July 4th and 6th, the Brazilians will compete in a tournament in Italy. On July 18th, the Brazilian delegation is scheduled to arrive in Japan, where the acclimatization period for the Olympic Games begins. They are scheduled to arrive in China on August 1st, a week before the start of the Olympics.
