Gymnasts from the club travel with the national team for acclimatization
With four red-and-black athletes, the delegation trains in Japan before heading to the World Cup in China on the 26th.

The red-and-black members of the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team are entering the final stretch of preparation for the World Championships in Nanning, China. Before the competition begins on October 3rd, the delegation will spend an acclimatization period in Asia. This Thursday (September 11.09th), the selected members traveled to Tokyo, Japan, for their final training camp. From there, they will travel to China on September 26th. This is the biggest challenge of the year for the sport, which could guarantee the country a spot in the 2015 World Championships, a qualifying competition for Rio 2016.
"The most important thing is to qualify among the top 24, which they should achieve with relative ease, and perhaps even reach the individual all-around final on one of the apparatuses. They are very well prepared. They competed in the Pre-Pan Championships in Canada and performed better than we expected. It's been a while since we've had a team world championship, and only two athletes have participated in this competition; the others are newcomers," analyzed Keli Kitaura, the girls' coach at the Club.
Isabelle Cruz, Julie Kim Sinmon, Letícia Costa, and Maria Cecília Cruz are the Flamengo players who are part of the national team. Youngster Rebeca Andrade will also participate in the training sessions, given her experience, but she will not be going to the World Cup, as she is not old enough for this year's competition. Among the coaches, Francisco Porath Neto and Ricardo Pereira also represent Flamengo.
"Our athletes play an important role because this World Cup is the one that qualifies for the next World Cup, which is the pre-Olympic tournament. In short, we need to perform well to secure a spot in the Olympics as a team. All the girls are very united, and their performance is very confident. They've been training hard and performing well with Alexandrov. They're enjoying the moment, dedicating themselves to training, and have demonstrated excellent professional stability and are eager to improve even more," praised Flamengo's land sports manager, Luisa Parente.
This year's World Cup qualifies 24 teams with five athletes each for the 2015 World Cup. Next year, the top eight countries are guaranteed a place in the Olympic Games, and the ninth to 16th placed countries will advance to the Pre-Olympics in 2016, which guarantees four more nations for the Rio Games.
