Flamengo gymnasts win three gold medals for Brazil
Isabelle Cruz wins gold in the vault and Letícia Costa comes first in the parallel bars; athletes also win team gold
By Communication - Official Club Website - inThe South American Adult Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Santiago, Chile, concluded this Sunday (December 08.12). Flamengo gymnasts Isabelle Cruz and Letícia Costa traveled with the Brazilian delegation, which performed exceptionally well: out of a possible eight medals, they won seven. Isabelle won gold on the vault and nearly made it to the podium on the balance beam, finishing fourth. Letícia won gold on the parallel bars and also finished second in the individual all-around ranking, winning silver on the vault and bronze on the floor. The girls, along with the Brazilian team, won gold in the team ranking.
On the team's technical committee was Fla's coach, Ricardo Pereira, who praised the girls' performance.
"We expected to win. On the first day, we competed very poorly, and it shook our outlook a bit, but the girls performed so well that they won easily in the end and took the team gold. On the second day, they were amazing, without a single fall, they got everything right, it was perfect. Brazil hasn't had such a positive performance in a long time. Out of eight possible medals, we won seven," she said.
The gymnasts continued from the competition to a training camp in Três Rios, where they will prepare for the next season, which will be filled with major competitions: the World Championships, the Pre-Olympic Games and the South American Games.
