Flamengo gymnasts win five medals at the South American Championships

By Media Relations - inFlamengo's artistic gymnastics team performed well at the South American Championships held this weekend in Santiago, Chile. The red-and-black team brought home five medals. In the men's event, Diego Hypolito won silver on the floor and vault, and Gabriela Soares secured bronze on the floor. The men's and women's teams also won gold medals in both events.
\On Saturday, the first day of competition, the Brazilian men's gymnastics team confirmed their place as the best in the South American competition, winning gold (347.150), with the help of Flamengo's Diego Hypolito, who placed fourth in the individual all-around. In the women's competition, Gabriela Soares and Priscila Cobello of Flamengo helped the women's team win gold (210.550), ahead of the strong teams from Argentina and Colombia. Competing for the first time since joining Flamengo, Priscila was also the fifth-best gymnast of the day.
\Diego's excellent performances on the floor, 15.750, and on the vault, 16.0, secured him a place in the apparatus final on Sunday (07.08), where Diego took silver in both events. Gabriela Soares also performed well and finished the competition as the third best South American gymnast on the floor.
\The athletes return to Brazil this Monday (08.08) and return to training at Flamengo afterwards, focused on the World Cup stage in Ghent, Belgium, in September, and the World Cup, in October.
