Back to training! On the afternoon of this Wednesday (15), the red-black artistic gymnastics teams returned to the Claudio Coutinho gymnasium, in Gávea, to begin training for the challenges of the 2020 season. It is worth remembering that Flávia Saraiva is, so far, the only Brazilian representative in the female category guaranteed at the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will be held between July 24 and August 9 this year.

Roberta Perillier, Flamengo's new artistic sports manager, commented on the teams' return to training and the season ahead.

"Our expectation is to have a strong year and begin excellent work in Flamengo's artistic gymnastics. We're welcoming Georgette Vidor back as the sport's technical coordinator, specifically to improve our athletes' technical skills with a greater focus on performance. I think this can only bear positive fruit for the club," said Beta, celebrating Flavinha's guaranteed spot in the Olympic Games.

"It's a source of great pride to have a Brazilian gymnast already qualified for Tokyo. Let's hope other athletes can secure more spots and give our full support to those already training at the Time Brasil Training Center, not only for the Olympics, but also for the World Championships and the next Olympic cycle," he concluded.

Flávia Saraiva also highlighted the importance of preparing for the Tokyo Games.

"I'm very excited, and I hope the time comes to make my Olympic debut. Especially in a country like Japan, which has a very rich and distinct culture. I hope to prepare well and give my best in pursuit of a medal for Brazil and Flamengo," said Flavinha.

The return of Georgette Vidor is another important milestone for Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team. With over 40 Brazilian titles for the club and numerous state titles during her time with the club, the new technical coordinator promises to contribute significantly to developing new talent in the sport.


The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
