Red and black gymnasts embark on the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships
Jade Barbosa, Flávia Saraiva and Lorrane Oliveira will be the representatives of Mais Querido in the competition
By Romulo Paranhos - inRubro-Negro's Jade Barbosa, Flávia Saraiva, and Lorrane Oliveira departed earlier this week for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, which will be held from October 4th to 13th in Stuttgart, Germany. The Mais Querido athletes represent the Brazilian National Team in the sport, which will seek team qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Another Flamengo member of the national delegation is Rebeca Andrade. The athlete is among the country's top gymnasts and a regular on the Brazilian national team. Despite recovering from surgery in June, Rebeca, who has already returned to training, will be accompanying the group at the World Championships.
"The preparation was the best possible; the girls put in a lot of effort. Training for important competitions like this is usually very tiring and exhausting, and they're well prepared for the World Championships," said Ângelo Sabino, the team's artistic gymnastics coach.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
