Flamengo will be present in the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Team for the first big challenge of the 2019 season. This is because the red-blacks Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa and Rebeca Andrade will compete, starting this Friday (15), in the DTB Pokal Team Qualifier, in Stuttgart, Germany.

Brazil is in a subdivision with Germany, and will have the following rotation on the apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. Spain, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Norway, Russia and Switzerland complete the countries competing in the competition. The top four finishers advance to Saturday's (16) final.

The DTB Pokal Team is a tournament organized by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), but it will not count towards the gymnasts' ranking for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Even so, the competition is considered extremely important for the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG), which, based on the results achieved, will be able to define the best plan for the season to try to achieve its main objective: to guarantee a place in next year's Olympic Games.

In October, the girls from Gávea will have another important commitment. The World Championships, also to be held in Stuttgart, Germany, will serve to secure their long-awaited Olympic berth. To achieve this, the Brazilian team will need to finish among the top nine in the overall standings.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, and Estácio – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
