Flavia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira and Rebeca Andrade begin competing in the Cottbus World Cup, which takes place from Wednesday (21) to Sunday (25), in Germany. The competition brings together athletes from the world's elite artistic gymnastics and is worth points in the quest for spots at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
New to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) calendar, the championships are contested on apparatus. The event will be the first in a series of eight to be held through 2020.
Last Sunday (18), Jade Barbosa won the bronze medal at the Swiss Cup, in Zurich, Switzerland. The red-black athlete represented the Pan-American Team alongside Canadian Cory Paterson. Flavia Saraiva also participated in the competition and represented Brazil with gymnast Artur Nory. The duo finished the tournament in sixth place.
