The red-black artistic gymnastics began, this Monday (7), its activities with an eye on the 2019 season. The Mais Querido athletes returned this morning at the Cláudio Coutinho gym, in Gávea, and have already trained hard under the guidance of coach Ângelo Sabino. The objective of the Rubro-Negro this year is to repeat, and even surpass, the great performance achieved last year, when teams of all categories reached the podium in the competitions disputed.
On the Official Website, Ângelo spoke about how the preparation is carried out at the beginning of the training.
"In this first week, we focused more on the athletes' physical fitness, carrying out high-intensity and exhausting workouts. The idea is to prepare their bodies so they can later perform well in equipment activities," said the red-and-black coach.
It's worth noting that Flamengo has four gymnasts on the Brazilian National Team: Jade Barbosa, Flavia Saraiva, Lorrane Oliveira, and Rebeca Andrade. Flamengo's Beatriz Simão was also invited to participate in the Training Camp, which will determine which athletes will compete in a competition in Dallas, USA, at the end of January. The girls from Gávea are already at the Time Brasil Training Center to participate in activities with the rest of the Brazilian team.
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
