Flamengo will have three representatives on the Brazilian National Team that will compete in the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. This Wednesday (17), the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation released the call for the main competition in the Americas with the names of the red-blacks Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa and Lorrane Oliveira. The gymnasts from Mais Querido join two other athletes to form the national team.
Speaking to the CBG website, Francisco Porath, coach of the women's team, said that the team is well prepared to do well at the Pan American Games.
"We continue to prepare vigorously for the Pan American Games, and our goal is to qualify for as many finals as possible and, in doing so, achieve the best possible result. We have a good team, and we will work together to present quality gymnastics," the coach emphasized.
The girls from Gávea, along with the other Brazilians, will be in action the day after the Games' opening ceremony, on July 26. On Saturday (27), there will be the team competition, with the qualification and final taking place on the same day. The national team is part of subdivision 3, alongside the United States, Peru, Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Uruguay. The events are scheduled to begin at 22:30 pm (Brasília time).
The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
