Red-and-black gymnasts train in camp with the national team
Athletes will meet until July 12th in Três Rios, Rio de Janeiro

Paving the way for the 2016 Olympics and with the Pan American Games in Canada in August in sight, the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team gathered for a training camp at the Planeta Vida Regional Training Center in Três Rios, Rio de Janeiro. Of the 10 athletes selected, five are from the red and black team: Julie Kim Sinmon, Letícia Costa, Maria Cecília Cruz, Milena Theodoro, and Rebeca Andrade. Another gymnast from the Mais Querido team, Thauany Araújo, was also invited to participate in the activities.
The athletes are accompanied by coaches, a choreographer, and physiotherapists during training sessions that will continue until July 12th. The Rubro-Negro coaching staff includes coaches Francisco Porath Neto, Keli Kitaura, and Ricardo Pereira. This is the third camp of the year, following two meetings in Barcelona, Spain.
Georgette Vidor, coordinator of women's artistic gymnastics at the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG), states that the goal is to follow the plan. "The objective is to prepare them for international competitions, such as the Pan American Games and the World Championships. We need to reinforce the training of some of them and further improve that of others. In the case of the Junior girls, we are preparing for the 2016 Olympic Games. We will continue working on what we have done so far," she stated. The Pan American Games will be in Canada in August of this year, granting a spot for the Pan American Sports Games, and for the World Championships in China in October.
