Rubro-Negro gymnasts will train with the Brazilian team

Six Flamengo gymnasts have been called up for training with the Brazilian national team in Ghent, Belgium. Jade Barbosa, Daniele Hypolito, Priscila Cobello, Gabriela Soares, and Letícia Costa will compete for a spot on the team that will compete in the World Pre-Olympic Championships in Japan and the Pan American Games in Mexico in October. Lorrane dos Santos, 13, will join the team as she is the country's biggest prospect for the 2016 Games. The Flamengo squad is also completed by coach Ricardo Pereira and physiotherapist Igor Letra.
After winning their second Brazilian championship in July, it's no surprise that six of the 10 gymnasts who will be in Belgium are Flamengo fans. Jade Barbosa, the "Gávea Diamond," believes this demonstrates that the work done at the club is paying off.
"This call-up is proof that Flamengo has a good artistic gymnastics school. I started practicing gymnastics at the club and I know the quality of the work done here. We formed more than half of the team that will be in Ghent," he said.
Current Brazilian champion, Daniele Hypolito, believes it will be the most important trip of the year and that the opportunity will be her passport to the fourth Olympics of her career.
"This will be a now-or-never trip. It's time to showcase the work we've done over the four years between the Olympics. I feel prepared and want to be in London," she revealed.
Gabriela Soares and Priscila Cobello believe that training will bring more motivation, but that it will be a fierce competition.
"I want to take advantage of this opportunity to improve my performances and show that I'm capable. It won't be long, but it'll be a lot of work. All the girls called up are very good, but I hope to return with my spot guaranteed," said Gabriela.
"It will be an opportunity to evolve and show that I'm ready to compete and show that I'm prepared to be in these big competitions," said Priscila.
The youngest and mascot of the group, Lorrane dos Santos can't hide her joy at participating in her first trip with the main team.
"I'm very happy. I'm going to train well, I want to give my best and show my gymnastics. Being in 2016 is my dream and I'm going to fight for it. Being on this trip is a privilege," he said excitedly.
The delegation left yesterday (12.08/15) for Belgium, where they will remain for two weeks. Until the World Cup, the team is scheduled to train for another XNUMX days at Flamengo's gym in Gávea.
