Gymnasts prepare in Canada for a spot at the Pan American Games
Of the seven players called up by the Brazilian National Team, four are Flamengo players; the group is training for the qualifying competition for Toronto-2015

The Brazilian artistic gymnastics team's red-and-black athletes, who will represent the country at the Pan American Championships in Mississauga, Canada, starting on August 29, are already on Canadian soil for a pre-competition camp and acclimatization period. Brazil will have seven athletes in the championship, four of whom are from Flamengo: Isabelle Cruz, Julie Kim Sinmon, Letícia Costa, and Maria Cecília Cruz.
The group arrived last Monday (11.08) and is continuing intensive training to ensure a good participation in the championship, a qualifier for the Pan American Games in Toronto, in 2015. The event will be held at the Hershey Centre. Brazil will be looking for medals in the team, individual all-around and apparatus categories.
Due to the importance of the competition, training in Canada began about three weeks before the tournament. "This acclimatization is crucial for us to get used to the equipment and for everyone to perfect the routines together and avoid as many mistakes as possible during the competition. It's important to train hard for each championship. I hope the team does a good job," commented Letícia Costa.
The gymnasts were accompanied by coaches Alexander Alexandrov, Iryna Ilyashenko, Oleg Ostapenko, and Ricardo Pereira, also from Flamengo, as well as physiotherapist Júlio César Mattos. At the Pan American Games, the Brazilian referees will be Catarina dos Santos and Valéria Lakerbai.
