Starting this Friday (01.10) Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team will begin to fight for the title of the Brazilian Championship of the sport, which is being held at the Constâncio Vieira Gymnasium, in Aracaju.

The club arrives at full strength, with a total of 25 athletes in the adult and youth categories, both male and female. Names like the champion Dany Hypolito, the experienced Jade Barbosa, and the talented Lorrane Oliveira are part of the club's adult women's team. Flavinha Saraiva, still recovering from surgery on her right foot, is in the capital of Sergipe supporting the group.

The spotlight, however, will be on Flamengo's Rebeca Andrade, gold medalist in the floor exercise and silver medalist in the all-around at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This will be the Flamengo athlete's first competition after the world's biggest sporting event, held in the Japanese capital.

"It's always good to be back competing, to be in the Brazilian Championship. I dedicate myself equally to everyone and always go in to do my best. I haven't competed in the Brazilian Championship since 2019, which is when I suffered my injury. It's great to be here with the girls again," he said.

Having recovered from a left knee injury, Jade Barbosa, who competed in the Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016 Olympics, returns to competition after two years. The athlete underwent meniscus surgery in May, but is already talking about starting a new Olympic cycle toward Paris 2024.

"I'm very happy to be back. This Brazilian Championship marks the beginning of a new Olympic cycle, and I want to be competing in Paris. I'm not doing everything I can, because I really have to come back step by step, safely.

A gymnast who needs no introduction, Dani Hypolito will once again represent her beloved club. Dani has won numerous medals in Brazilian and state championships and is a great role model for younger athletes at Gávea.

"It's a huge pleasure to be here representing Flamengo and striving for the best results. I hope to inspire these new girls coming up. Flamengo always reveals talent. I'll be competing alongside young people like Helen and Helo, and it's going to be incredible," she concluded.

The club's technical coordinator, Georgette Vidor, believes that the club will achieve good results in this Brazilian Championship.

"The Flamengo gymnastics team is returning to where it should never have left. This group's dedication is immense. We have a competent and dedicated team, and we're going after the results and everything we've trained for. Flamengo is about grit and passion, and we'll show that here," he assured.

The team and individual all-around champions will be announced this Friday, and the apparatus finals will be held on Sunday.
