Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team holds a selection process with children from CIEP Sergio Vieira de Mello
Seven students were chosen and will now be part of the red-black pre-team
By Helena Petry - inEducation and sports are two important pillars of citizenship development. With this in mind, Flamengo's artistic gymnastics team sought out students from the Sergio Vieira de Mello Integrated Public Education Center, located in Gávea, near the club's headquarters. On May 22, during a visit to first and second grade classes, coach Nei Lopes selected 17 young people with potential to practice the sport, who participated in a tryout on Wednesday (06).

"I selected children with the right body type for gymnastics: the shorter ones, with the most suitable physical profile for the sport. High-performance sports are also a means of social inclusion," Nei commented.
Seven young people aged 4 to 7 were chosen for the pre-team, the gateway to the red-black artistic gymnastics. The official announcement will be released next Monday (11) and the athletes will begin training this month, from Monday to Friday, for one hour a day.
The artistic gymnastics and swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
