It was a golden weekend for Flamengo's artistic gymnastics! At the Brazil Trophy, two young talents from Flamengo shined and achieved a special milestone in their careers: Hellen and Maria Eduarda Montesino are now Brazilian adult champions!
In her first season in the new category, Maria Eduarda secured gold on the balance beam with a confident and personality-filled performance.
"I was very happy with my result on the balance beam, for winning that gold. So, I was really training a lot for this apparatus, it's an apparatus that I like. [...] So that's it, I was very happy and very fulfilled for winning that gold," said Duda, celebrating the achievement.
Hellen put on a show of resilience in the final. After a subpar score in the qualifying round, she went all out for the final and walked away with the gold medal in hand—and a smile on her face! "I'm so happy to have participated in this Troféu Brasil. Even more so that I managed to bring home this medal. [...] I promised myself I would give it my all for the final. [...] And I'm so proud of myself for bringing home this medal, because I was so happy," celebrated the gymnast, who dedicated the feat to her mother as a Mother's Day gift. With these victories, the two mark their careers with a title that will forever be remembered: their first national gold medal as adult gymnasts.
