Gymnast Diego Hypolito secured first place this Friday in the floor exercise heats at the Glasgow (Scotland) stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, receiving a score of 15,325.

Diego, a CRFlamengo athlete and the standout performer on the Brazilian national team, seized the opportunity to execute the "Hypolito 2"—a move named after him and recognized by the FIG—in the first pass of his new floor routine, impressing the judges. Second place went to England's Kristian Thomas (15,300 points), followed by Israel's Alexander Shatilov in third with 15,050 points.

Two-time world champion on the floor, Diego will fight for the highest place on the podium in the final this Saturday, starting at 9:30 am (Brasília time).

"My starting score was the highest I've ever achieved (16,80). I talked to my coach, Renato Araújo, and our plan is to maintain this score until the World Championships in London in October. Even with some execution errors in the last three passes, I had a good race and finished first in the qualifying round. I think I can improve even more and fight for a medal in Saturday's final," said the red-and-black.

In addition to the floor exercise, Diego qualified among the top eight who will compete in the vault final, also this Saturday. With a score of 15,837 points, the Brazilian finished fourth.
