The first athletes of the Brazilian delegation competing in the Odesur South American Championship landed this Tuesday (22) in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Among them are the red-blacks Flávia Saraiva and Jade Barbosa, representing the Mais Querido in the artistic gymnastics competitions. The competition in this modality will begin next Sunday, May 27.

In April, at the last international championship held by gymnasts, the Brazilian team placed second overall in the team competition at the Troffeo Cittá di Jesolo in Italy. Individually, Flavinha returned with silver on the floor exercise.

Heading into another South American Championship, Jade Barbosa has already accumulated medals in the competition. In 2006, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the athlete dominated the tournament, winning five gold medals. She reached the top of the podium in the vault, floor, balance beam, individual all-around, and team events. In Santiago 2014, the red-and-black athlete repeated the feat three times: vault, individual, and team. In Chile, Jade also won the silver medal on the uneven bars. 

The red-blacks will hold their first training session in Cochabamba on the afternoon of this Wednesday (23). The artistic gymnastics competition will take place between the 27th and 30th of May.
