You never forget your first time! The saying fits perfectly with the special moment that Josué Heliodoro is experiencing in his career. This Friday (5), the red-and-black gymnast makes his debut for the Brazilian Men's Youth Artistic Gymnastics Team, which will participate in the 24th International Junior Team Cup, held between April 5 and 7 in Berlin, Germany.

In addition to Josué, the red-and-black coach Roberto Nassar will be in charge of the boys' national team. The Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation considers the event a luxury preparation for the Junior World Championships, which will take place from June 27th to 30th in Győr, Hungary.

As this is the first competition of the season, the team's main objective is to consolidate the series and assess the athletes' technical level, making the necessary adjustments before the World Cup. If the team performs well in the tournament, the youngster from Gávea could secure his spot in the most important competition in the category.

The Junior Team Cup qualifying round will begin at 4 a.m. this Friday (Brasília time). The Brazilian team is in subdivision 3, competing alongside teams from Germany, Switzerland 1, Romania, Hungary, Canada 1, Netherlands 1, United States, Spain, France 1, Russia, Great Britain, Italy and SC Berlin. The apparatus finals will be held on Saturday (6), starting at 9 a.m.

The artistic gymnastics teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
